Installation service of new Presiding Bishop

Bishops here, there, and everywhere! If seeing and hearing our own Bishop Alan Gates wasn’t enough for you, there is another great opportunity just around the corner. Bishop Michael Bruce Curry will be installed as the 27th Presiding Bishop of the Episcopal Church on November 1 at noon at the Washington National Cathedral. According to the Episcopal News Service, The Rt. Rev. Michael Bruce Curry, Bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of North Carolina, was elected and confirmed as the 27th Presiding Bishop of The Episcopal Church at the 78th General Convention on June 27. According to the Canons of The Episcopal Church, he becomes Presiding Bishop on November 1. Bishop Curry is the first African-American to be elected Presiding Bishop of The Episcopal Church. The Holy Eucharist with the Installation of the 27th Presiding Bishop will be live webcast. The service will be reflective of the comprehensiveness of the Episcopal tradition and community. Bishop Curry will preach at the service.

Is there interest within the parish to join together to watch this service – with great music and glorious preaching – as a group at All Saints’? It is a live webcast, and we could show it with an enhanced visual and audio format if the interest is there. If you are interested (and we will do something communally about lunch), please let Maggie Marshall know by 10/23 so that we can get our techno gurus on the job and we can decide which space within the church to use. You can contact Maggie using the Contact Us form, choosing Choir Director from the “To be contacted” menu.
